Happy Monday!
I enjoyed singing with you all again on Friday! Everyone seems to be enjoying singing Disney songs, so this week we will continue with more. This week, though, I will be expanding to other movies as well such as Trolls and The Greatest Showman. If you have a song from a favorite children's movie that you enjoy and would like to sing, suggest it below. I hope to see you all again on Friday! Today I have 2 echo songs for you to join me with. The first is a camp song called Flee Fly Flo and is a fun echo song that gets faster and faster with each repetition. I hope that you enjoy singing it with me here. Here are the lyrics below if you would like to take a look: Flee Flee fly Flee fly flo Vista Vista Kumulala kumulala kumulala vista Oh no no no not the vista Eenie meenie epsileenie oo wahla wahlameenie Eenie meende epsileenie oo wahla wah A beep billy oaten boaten bobo skadeeten dottin A beep billy oaten boaten shhhh Yes, they are nonsense words, so you don't have to stress about getting them all correct. Make up your own words while echoing? That's fine! It's meant to be fun not frustrating. The next is an African children's game from Ghana that has movement to go with it. We have sung it in Kindergarten before so maybe you will recognize it. The lyrics are: Kye Kye Kule Kye Kye Kofinsa Kofisa Langa Kaka Shilanga Kum Aden Nde Kum Aden Nde HEY! As far as the translation of the words, there is a lot of discussion over what the words mean. Some websites say that the translation is similar to head, shoulders, knees, and toes, but research in other places states that this is not true. Here is what I found in my research and think makes the most sense: I would compare this song to games that we have that call on a person to do a certain movement, such as Disco from GoNoodle. In Disco, the beginning of the song starts out with "Yo Lindsay" "That's me" "Yo Lindsay" "Still me." You call on a person by there name and they respond. Kye kye kule, the phrase, appears to be a call to another person to get their attention. Kofi is a Ghana name, so the second line seems to be calling on a person. The last line means bend down and stand up, just like the game has us do. I hope that you have fun singing these two songs! See you on Wednesday.
