Happy Friday!
Remember that our sing along is still at 3:00 today! I can't wait to see you there for some more singing. Yes, we will still be doing Disney, but I will also be including some songs from other movies as well to see if you all enjoy those. Did you look at the Google homepage this week? This week was especially musical! On Wednesday, it was Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's 61st birthday. He is no longer living, but Google took the time to remember him on his birthday. If you did not see the video that Google posted you can check it out here. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was a native Hawaiian singer and is most well known for his cover/mash up of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World. For today's video I did a cover of his version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Take a look here. Google kept going with the musical theme and did a history lesson of the m'bira yesterday. The m'bira is an African instrument made from a piece of wood with metal prongs on top that create music. You can take a look at the picture below if you were unable to see the doodle yesterday. Each prong is a different length and thickness to become a different note and the bottle caps at the bottom produce a buzzing sound when the prongs are played. Alright, I cannot wait to see you all at 3:00. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend. I will be posting on Tuesday next week since Monday is a holiday. See you then!
